DielmoOpenLiDAR born with the objective to be a world reference for the management of LiDAR data with open source software, but to achieve this objective we need all your help to continue growing.
The collaborations can arrive in different forms. Here you can find the main ways to participate in the project:
-
Funding developments
For the development of this Open Source Software, DIELMO takes financial risks that in part expects to cover thorugh economic collaboration from enterprises and institutions as sponsoring or funding deeper developments for specific applications. Actually we have developed tools for internal use, and is not a problem do it public if any entity assumes the cost of the development. Next we will show an entities list that at this stage funded DielmoOpenLiDAR:

Transport and Infrastructures Department of Generalitat Valenciana (Spain)
In 2008, helped by CIT, we started the development of the driver for LiDAR data for gvSIG, being the base of later developments.

National Geographic Institute of Spain (IGN)
In 2009, IGN funded the development of a module for the quality data control of LiDAR flights.

Referral Spatial Data Infrastructure of Murcia Region (Spain)
In 2009, the IDRM funded the development of the functionallity to make longitudinal cross-sections inside of the DielmoOpenLiDAR profile client.
-
Spreading
We are sure that there is an important number of users in all the world that are not able to manage big volumes of LiDAR data and that they would like to know this free tool. Help us to sponsor it talking with your friends and colleagues or put a link to our web.
-
Translating
If you want to collaborate in the translation of DielmoOpenLiDAR and the documentation into other languages, contact us to coordinate the work.
-
Testing
It is impossible to test all the combinations of cases of use for a software like this. In fact, one of the strong points of the open source software is that the testing is done by the community. Our idea is to publish unestable versions each week, and without the error reports of the users we would need more time to obtain a stable and mature product. For this reason one of the most appreciated collaboration forms is the testing of the software. If you are a user or developer and you find any problems, unexpected performance or just questions, go to the mailing lists to ask, because maybe you have found an error in the software and your contribution will help correct it in the next version of gvSIG or DielmoOpenLiDAR.
-
Writing
If you write tutorials or articles in blogs, magazines or other communication media related to the use of DielmoOpenLiDAR, we can include links to these contents from our web so that the rest of the community can find the information easily.
-
Developing
If you work in the development of algorithms for the processing of LiDAR data, you can use DielmoOpenLiDAR as a basis for development. It will facilitate the implementation of your algorithms. We will be happy to include your extensions inside the application, so that other users can take advantage of your development, at the same time that you become known to a large number of LiDAR users. We also are open to work on developments together with other research groups for the development of tools focused for any application of the LiDAR data.
-
Contributing with algorithms
If you work on the development of algorithms for the processing of LiDAR data and you prefer to continue working with other programming language or another platform, you also can collaborate with us providing your source code or the description of the algorithm so that we can implement them insided DielmoOpenLiDAR indicating the reference to the autor of the algorithms.
